Dear Friends,

As a proud resident of the Santa Maria Valley, I have dedicated my life to making a positive impact on the children and families in our community. My journey began as a parent advocate for the Family Resource Center within the Guadalupe Union School District, and I later became the Director of The Little House by the Park, a non-profit focused on building parent leaders and increasing engagement from birth to age 18. More recently, my journey expanded as I raised my own two children, who have recently graduated from Santa Maria and Pioneer Valley High Schools.

In addition to my professional work, I founded Santa Maria's first Latino Cultural and Creative Arts Center, Corazon del Pueblo, and have been an active community volunteer. Since October 2023, I have proudly served on the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Board, gaining valuable insights and experience.

Why I'm Running:

I am running for the newly created District 3 seat on the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Board because I am committed to providing our students and educators with the education system they deserve. After my youngest graduated from High School last June, I recognized how important it is to have representation on our SMJUHSD school board who understands what is needed to help our kids succeed. My experience working in community engagement, community leadership, and serving as SMJUHSD board member has shown me the need to listen, support, and advocate for each child’s individual needs and pathway to success.

My Priorities:

1. Mental Wellness: Prioritizing the mental health of students and families.

2. Authentic Engagement: Fostering genuine engagement within the school community.

3. College and Career Readiness: Championing a culture that prepares every student for their future dreams.

My Experience and Vision:

With a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and extensive experience working with public agencies and leading community efforts, I am committed to continuing our upward trajectory. I will actively seek input from students, parents, teachers, and district staff to meet the needs of our students.

I bring innovative ideas and a proven track record of increasing authentic parent and student engagement. I am ready to work alongside my school board peers to address Santa Maria’s current and future challenges.

Together, let’s support an education system that truly serves our students and helps them achieve their dreams!

New District Boundaries

In 2018, the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Board of Education approved a resolution to switch from at-large elections to by-trustee area elections.

In February 2022, the Board selected and approved the trustee area map known as the Purple Map. I am running to represent District 3 of the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
